Traitors Star Sam Little Admits Shame After Losing Life Savings to Scammers
Traitors Star Sam Little Admits Shame Over Scam Loss

Sam Little, a star of the BBC show The Traitors, has confessed his guilt and shame after being conned out of his entire life savings. He admitted he was fooled by scammers who tricked him with a fake phone call.

How the Scam Unfolded

Little, who appeared in the most recent series as a faithful before being banished, lost thousands of pounds after falling for a scam. He was asked to call a verified phone number and move his cryptocurrency into a hardware wallet, believing he was opening an insurance case.

Speaking on This Morning on June 26, Little explained that he needed to move the money to protect it from potential loss in the case, but instead gave scammers access to his account. The money was transferred entirely to the criminals, who made off with it. He only realized the fraud when his wife searched the number he had called.

Tech-Savvy Victim Fooled by Sophisticated Criminals

Little reported the scam to Report Fraud, but due to the involvement of cryptocurrency, the service said it didn't have the capacity to help, describing such cases as complex and time-consuming. He revealed the scam occurred while his season of The Traitors was airing, saying: "It caught me in an off moment where I just had a series of text notifications from a verified number, which over the years had sent me verified text messages, asking me to call them. And I actually picked up the phone and called them."

Despite his deep experience in the tech sector, Little was devastated. "I consider myself quite savvy but these are genuine criminal organisations now," he said. "These aren't two guys in a room chancing their arm, they are working off a sales playbook, and they are very, very good."

Impact and Warning

He added: "The amount of times on the phone they'd say 'If you're not comfortable, just ring us back at a more convenient time.' And I'm just trusting them more and more, but they're also underpinning that with a bit of panic as well, making me act, and before I knew it, the line went dead and everything was gone." Little's story serves as a warning about the sophistication of modern scammers, even targeting those who consider themselves tech-savvy.
