A callous scammer who used Facebook to sell fake Taylor Swift tickets has been sentenced at Chester Crown Court. Jordan Moore, 32, of Little Sutton, Ellesmere Port, pleaded guilty to seven counts of fraud by false representation.
How the scam worked
Moore advertised Taylor Swift tickets on Facebook and Gumtree, claiming they were being resold due to a breakup and had been purchased from Ticketmaster. He defrauded seven victims out of more than £5,000 between November 2023 and March 2025. Five of the charges related to fraudulent ticket sales, while two involved greyhound equipment.
Screenshots showed Moore stating he preferred to meet in person to show tickets and complete transactions.
Court outcome
On Friday, June 19, Moore was sentenced to 19 months in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and pay £3,808 in compensation.
Police statement
Police Constable Hindley of Cheshire Police said: “Moore preyed on his victims, specifically using Taylor Swift tickets as a hook to lure them in and defraud them of thousands of pounds. He was well aware that what he was doing was wrong, but he thought that he would be able to outsmart his victims and avoid justice. Unfortunately for him, thanks to the information provided by the victims, and the evidence gathered by the team here at Cheshire Police, his plans fell apart and he has now been held accountable for his actions.”
