A drug dealer posed as a Just Eat delivery driver to supply cocaine and cannabis while riding an electric bike in Cardiff. Fryad Ibrahim, 21, was stopped by police and found in possession of more than £1,000 worth of drugs.
Police Stop in Cardiff
Ibrahim was spotted by police in Cardiff on June 28, 2024, riding what appeared to be a pedal cycle, which he used to ride through a red light. Due to his speed, it was believed he was riding an electric bike, and he was stopped in North Road.
At a sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday, the court heard the defendant was using the cover of a Just Eat delivery driver and was detained. When officers attempted to put handcuffs on Ibrahim, he pushed them away and resisted to the point he was pava-sprayed in the face.
Drugs and Cash Found
He was searched and found in possession of 10.65g of cocaine, worth £1,120, 64.8g of female flowering head cannabis, and 27g of cannabis resin, worth £610. The defendant's phone was seized, and there were messages on the device in which Ibrahim said he was "active" and provided addresses in Cardiff where he was located.
Prosecutor Tim Lewis said the defendant was also found in possession of more than £700 in cash and weighing scales with cannabis and cocaine residue. Following his arrest, he initially claimed the drugs were for his own personal use.
Sentence and Court Outcome
Ibrahim, of Carlton Terrace, Plymouth, later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs. The court heard he is of previous good character.
Judge Vanessa Francis told the defendant she would not be sending him to prison due to him being a teenager at the time of the offences and the fact he has found employment and stayed out of trouble. Ibrahim was sentenced to two years and six months imprisonment suspended for three years. The defendant was also ordered to pay £140 in costs.
