A prominent TikTok star and beauty entrepreneur has been tragically killed in what authorities are investigating as a domestic violence homicide. Girlalala, a 21-year-old transgender influencer with nearly 300,000 followers, was found shot to death in Florida last Friday, with her longtime boyfriend now facing first-degree murder charges.
Frantic 911 Call Reveals Panic at Crime Scene
The disturbing sequence of events began when Shanoyd Whyte Jr., 25, placed a frantic emergency call to 911 operators. Audio obtained by TMZ captures Whyte's panicked pleas for help, though he appeared unable to provide the exact address to responders.
"Please help! Hello? I need help please! I need help!" Whyte exclaimed in the recording. "I don't know the address. Just check! Just check, please! I'm at a house. I'm at a house. Please [moaning], please. Alright, thank you."
After Whyte abruptly ended the call, the 911 operator called back, reminding him to remain on the line. Whyte responded with increased urgency: "Yes, hello. Get here! Hurry up and get here! Who's calling me, hurry up and get here! Please."
Tragic Discovery in Parked Tesla
When Broward Sheriff's Office deputies and fire rescue teams responded to the medical emergency at the Lauderdale Lakes residence, they made a grim discovery. Girlalala, born Maurice Harrison, was found in the front passenger seat of a parked Tesla suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Paramedics immediately transported the injured influencer to Broward Health Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased. Meanwhile, police located a firearm at the scene and transported Whyte to Broward Sheriff's Office jail.
Violent History and Murder Charges
Whyte, a former college footballer, now faces first-degree murder charges for Girlalala's death. This isn't his first encounter with domestic violence allegations - he was arrested for domestic violence in 2022 according to court records.
During his initial court appearance, a judge ordered Whyte held without bond, recognising the severity of the charges and his previous history.
The tragedy marks the second devastating loss for Girlalala's family in recent months. Her brother, Marion Harrison, was shot and killed last August, adding another layer of heartbreak to an already grieving family.
Remembering Girlalala's Legacy
Beyond her social media fame, Girlalala had built a successful beauty enterprise. The "wig influencer" worked as a hairstylist and operated Girlalala Beauty Bar in Pompano Beach, Florida, specialising in hair extensions and wig application.
Her digital presence was substantial, with 294,600 TikTok followers, 117,012 Instagram followers across three accounts, 4,760 YouTube subscribers and 5,146 followers on X (formerly Twitter).
In a statement to WPLG Local 10, Girlalala's family expressed their grief and desire for justice: "As a family we appreciate every prayer, kind thought and gesture during our time of bereavement. Now we are just praying that justice is served to the fullest degree."
Community Support and Celebrity Tributes
The community has rallied around Girlalala's memory, with a GoFundMe page organised by Chaddie Harrison raising $28,777 from a $25,000 goal to support funeral expenses and family needs.
Notably, former City Girls rapper JT contributed $12,500 to the fundraiser. The Miami native posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, writing: "Rest beautiful Girlala! We love you [and] heaven will never be boring now that you are there. Your boldness, energy, humor [and] beauty will be missed!"
JT's message also highlighted the broader issue of violence against marginalised communities: "If you see content about DV don't laugh because it's a trans or black woman. We have a way of laughing through our pain because we have been shaped to be taken as jokes! #protecttranswomen #protectblackwomen protect feminism as a whole!"
Alarming Statistics and Final Posts
Girlalala's death adds to concerning statistics about violence against transgender individuals. The Human Rights Campaign reported that black transgender women made up nearly half of the 36 known murders of trans and gender non-conforming people in 2023-2024.
In her final social media activity, Girlalala tweeted on October 31 about being homebound after "doing time," while in July she had posted about her arrest for a "fraud" charge.
Girlalala's funeral is scheduled for December 5, as her family, friends and online community prepare to say their final goodbyes to the vibrant young influencer whose life was cut tragically short.
