Lauren Cox, a 27-year-old teacher from Oxted, Surrey, has pleaded guilty to four charges of sexual activity with a child under 18 while in a position of trust. The offences took place at a school in Bromley, south-east London, where she taught.
Croydon Crown Court heard that Cox groomed the boy from the age of 13, forming a close relationship before beginning a sexual relationship with him in January 2015. She also sent him explicit pictures and videos of herself.
Police said the abuse had an extremely adverse effect on the boy, causing his studies to suffer. Pc Laura Davies stated that Cox abused her position of trust and showed no remorse for her actions.
The relationship ended in September 2015 when the boy’s parents suspected something was wrong and reported it, leading to Cox’s arrest. She is due to be sentenced next month.
