Seven children have been rescued from what police describe as "deplorable" living conditions in a Brent Cross property after a shocking discovery during a police raid.
Officers executing a warrant at the residential address were confronted with scenes of extreme squalor, including floors covered in faeces and drug-related paraphernalia scattered throughout the home.
Disturbing Discovery
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that seven minors were found living in the property, all suffering from the dire conditions. The children have since been taken into protective custody while investigations continue.
Two adults present at the property, a 42-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, were immediately arrested following the discovery.
Charges Brought
Both individuals now face multiple charges of child neglect and are currently in police custody awaiting court proceedings. The Metropolitan Police have emphasised the seriousness of the offences and the ongoing nature of their investigation.
A police spokesperson stated: "The welfare of these children is our primary concern. We're working closely with social services and partner agencies to ensure they receive appropriate care and support."
Community Response
Local authorities have been notified, with Barnet Council confirming they are providing support to the affected children. Neighbours expressed shock at the revelations, with many describing the incident as deeply concerning for the community.
The case has highlighted ongoing concerns about child protection services and inter-agency cooperation in identifying and assisting vulnerable children in hazardous home environments.
