Tragic Pennsylvania House Fire Claims Lives of Mother and Six Young Children

A mother and her six children have been confirmed dead following a catastrophic explosion and fire at a home in central Pennsylvania. The incident occurred on Sunday morning in Lamar Township, Clinton County, near Mill Hall.

Details of the Fatal Incident

Firefighters responded swiftly to reports of an explosion at the residence. Upon arrival, they discovered the building fully engulfed in flames, making it impossible for rescuers to enter and search for occupants. Pennsylvania State Police issued a statement confirming that seven individuals were trapped inside and all perished in the blaze.

The victims have been identified as Sarah Stolzfus, aged 34, along with her four sons and two daughters. The children ranged in age from 3 to 11 years old, with the sons being 11, 10, 5, and 3, and the daughters aged 8 and 6.

Investigation into the Cause

Authorities are actively investigating the cause of the fire. Preliminary findings suggest that a propane leak inside the home may have triggered the explosion. Police have clarified that exterior propane tanks did not explode and were not contributing factors to the disaster.

Eyewitness Account from Neighbour

Neighbour Christina Duck provided a harrowing account to WNEP-TV, describing how she heard a loud boom while eating breakfast. "I could feel it and I got up and looked out the window and I could see the flames through the windows," Duck recounted. "I come running outside and within a minute the whole house was completely engulfed."

Duck noted that the family had moved into the home just a couple of months prior and she often saw the children playing outside, adding a poignant layer to the community's grief.

The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine the exact circumstances leading to this heartbreaking tragedy.
