
The North East community is reeling from the tragic loss of a beloved young father who drowned in the River Tyne after a night out with friends.
Scott Rennie, 32, from Gateshead, was described by his devastated family as a "devoted and caring father" to his three young children. The tragedy unfolded on Saturday night when Scott was out with friends in Newcastle.
A Desperate Search
Emergency services launched a major search operation after Scott was reported missing. The grim discovery was made on Sunday when his body was recovered from the river near the Gateshead Quays area.
His heartbroken partner, Chelsea O'Mahoney, paid an emotional tribute to the man she loved, saying: "He was the most devoted and caring father to our three babies. We are absolutely devastated."
Community in Mourning
Friends and family have flooded social media with tributes to the much-loved father. One friend wrote: "Rest in peace Scott. You were one in a million and an amazing dad to your kids."
Another added: "Absolutely heartbreaking. He was such a lovely lad and doting father."
Family's Heartbreak
Scott's family released a statement through Northumbria Police, describing their profound grief. They remembered him as a cherished son, brother, and uncle who would be "sorely missed by all his family and friends."
The family has requested privacy as they come to terms with their devastating loss and begin the difficult process of arranging his funeral.
Northumbria Police confirmed they are not treating the death as suspicious and have prepared a report for the coroner.
