An influencer drug mule caught smuggling £150,000 of cannabis through Edinburgh Airport has been pictured at a music festival with a 'Scottish Barbie' thug who dodged jail after stamping on a woman's head in a nightclub toilet.
Ellie Crampsie was spotted at the Colourfest dance music festival, held at the Braehead waterfront on August 15 and 16, just four months after being jailed for 16 months. The 23-year-old, from Broomhouse in Glasgow, was found with more than 17 kilos of the Class B drug stuffed into a suitcase as she returned from a holiday in Thailand in April last year.
Festival photos and violent past
Instagram photos posted by Crampsie show her posing with Courtney Doyle. The OnlyFans model, dubbed 'Scottish Barbie', pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court in January last year after attacking Carly Stewart at Wunderbar in Glasgow city centre on April 1, 2024. Doyle repeatedly stamped on Miss Stewart's head and body as well as punched her while she lay stricken on the floor. The self-employed aesthetics practitioner later claimed she had intervened as Miss Stewart attacked her pregnant friend.
Lorna Clark, defending, told the hearing that the incident was Doyle's third conviction for violence. As an "alternative to custody", Doyle, of Uddingston, Lanarkshire, was ordered to pay Miss Stewart £200 in compensation.
Home Detention Curfew
It's understood Crampsie, who remains in the care of the Scottish Prison Service, posted the photos while released on Home Detention Curfew (HDC) and is therefore required to wear a tag. Commenting under the post, Doyle wrote: "Love you my girl, roll on marbs", which Crampsie responded with: "love you, let's gooo."
The usual curfew is between 7.30pm and 7.30am and it requires people on HDC to stay at an approved address during these times and comply fully with set licence conditions. The first act began at 12pm with headliners finishing at 10pm.
Sentencing and court details
At her sentencing hearing, Sheriff Graeme Watson said: "You have pled guilty to by way of a section 76 of being concerned in the supply of cannabis, a Class B drug. You were stopped by border control officers with a suitcase containing over 17 kilograms of cannabis in vacuum sealed packages with a street value of up to £151,000.
"I have carefully considered the criminal justice social work report and the plea of mitigation on your behalf. I accept the submission on your behalf that there was a lesser degree of culpability. You knew your former partner had been involved in drugs and he asked you to check in his luggage that also contained female clothes. Your role was one of carrying the cannabis in your luggage and I accept there was a power imbalance in the relationship."
The sheriff added Crampsie's conduct in carrying the drugs was "reckless" but accepted she had been "naive and potentially taken advantage of". Sheriff Watson said he had no option but to impose a custodial sentence and jailed Crampsie for 16 months.
Previously the court was told Crampsie had flown on an Air France flight from Thailand to the Scottish capital via Paris and was stopped by Border Force officers on April 16 last year. Fiscal depute Emma Laing said: "She was asked the usual questions by the officer and she confirmed she had traveled from Thailand. Her luggage was opened and a number of vacuum packages were within."
The court was told airport officials discovered 17 separate sealed packages containing 17.7kg of cannabis with a total value estimated at between £115,000 and £151,000. Crampsie pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug, namely cannabis, to another or others at Edinburgh Airport on April 16 last year.
A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson previously told us: "We do not comment on individuals. We only release those in our care on a Home Detention Curfew after a careful and considered assessment of risk and with appropriate monitoring and restrictions in place."
