Andrew Tate has been ruthlessly mocked after social media wags claimed his flashy arrest outfit was plucked straight off the bargain racks at ASDA. The 39-year-old influencer and his brother Tristan, 38, were taken into custody by US Marshals in Miami over the weekend.
Extradition to UK
The pair are facing extradition back to the UK after a CPS investigation into allegations dating back 16 years. Andrew is facing 42 charges in total, including 19 for offences relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Bedfordshire Police confirmed the arrest warrant was executed following the investigation.
In a statement, Bedfordshire Police said: "Andrew Tate, 39, is being charged with seven further counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and 19 additional charges for offences relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography."
His brother Tristan faces 17 counts, including "one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation." The siblings, who have denied all wrongdoing, remain in US federal custody ahead of their extradition hearing. Their lawyer Joseph McBride insisted to the BBC that "the world knows Andrew and Tristan are innocent."
Outfit mockery
Andrew's bizarre get-up has also caught people's attention online. He strutted out in handcuffs sporting a bright purple, open-necked shirt paired with snug, ankle-flashing capri trousers and loafers. It didn't take long for eagle-eyed social media users to tear the look to shreds, with a viral post alleging the full ensemble was actually sourced from ASDA's George womenswear line.
While fashion police established the bargain supermarket branding had been doctored on the picture by internet jokers, the questionable bit of clobber left commentators rolling in the aisles anyway. Comedian Grace Campbell led the online mockery, taking to social media to grade the controversial brothers' arrest looks over the years.
Lashing out at Tate's latest Miami ensemble, Campbell scoffed that it looked like something a mannequin "would literally spit on and be like, 'Please don't put me in that.'" She said: "Andrew Tate...you've now managed to ruin capri pants for us in the middle of summer, thank you so much." Giving the outfit a pitiful 1 out of 10, she admitted she was "enjoying thinking of the fact he's being detained in those trousers right now."
Another X user sneered that he was collared while "wearing Doris Day clam-digger slacks and a kicky purple blouse."
