Two individuals have been arrested in Cardiff as part of a murder investigation into the death of 22-year-old Haruun Hassan, who was fatally stabbed in Hounslow, London, last week. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 21-year-old man, Awap Halouf, of Hambro Road, Lambeth, has been charged with murder and possession of a blade in a public place. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Details of the Incident
Police were called to reports of a stabbing at the junction of Bath Road and Great Southwest Road at approximately 1:47 AM on Tuesday, June 30. Officers from the Metropolitan Police and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene, where they found Haruun Hassan, a local resident, suffering from serious injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Arrests in Cardiff
A murder investigation was launched immediately following the incident. On Sunday, July 5, a 21-year-old man was arrested in Cardiff in connection with the murder. Subsequently, Awap Halouf was charged. As part of the ongoing investigation, a 21-year-old woman was also arrested in Cardiff on the same day on suspicion of murder. She has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller stated: "Our thoughts remain with Haruun's family during this very difficult time." He added that the investigation remains active and urged anyone with information to come forward. Haruun's family continues to receive support from specialist officers.
