TalkTV Star Points Out Inconsistency in Ann Widdecombe Murder Case

Counter terrorism police are now leading the investigation into the murder of former Conservative MP Ann Widdecombe, who was found dead at her home aged 78 last week. The development comes after TalkTV star Isabel Oakeshott pointed out a key inconsistency in the case minutes before the bombshell update.

Oakeshott Questions Suspect's Journey

Appearing on Jeremy Kyle's TalkTV show on July 13, Oakeshott highlighted that the suspect reportedly drove approximately 270 miles with what appeared to be a weapon to Widdecombe's address. She said: "It's perfectly legitimate for Nigel Farage, who has a pretty good instinct and track record on these things, as he did after Southport, to just probe that a little further."

Oakeshott added: "There is nothing illegitimate in questioning whether that is the true story. I'm not saying it isn't. If there is some other reason, I do think the police should just probably tell us."

Maths and Motive

She elaborated on the discrepancy: "Because on the face of it, if a bloke drives 300 miles at breakneck speed – I've done the maths, I've looked at the number of miles and the number of hours he had to do that journey – carrying what looks very like a weapon in his pocket, all the way down to an elderly lady's house. Unless he's got some link with her that we don't know about, then that's looking to me like it's pretty political."

Jeremy Kyle agreed, noting: "I've watched it all morning! Why would you drive 270 miles with a weapon in your pocket? But we don't know." He referenced the initial police statement that the suspect was a "white British male," which his wife found suspicious. That person turned out to be a handyman and single dad, later released.

Counter Terrorism Police Take Over

Following "new information and evidence," counter terrorism police have assumed control of the investigation. A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. The police initially stated there was no indication Widdecombe's death was politically motivated, but the shift in investigation suggests otherwise.

Kyle added: "The suspect is in police custody and I get the shock and horror of so many people at Reform and at Talk, the last place to speak to her."
