Police have arrested a man in his 40s following reports that a schoolgirl was repeatedly sexually assaulted while taking the bus home from school in Gloucestershire. The incidents occurred over several days in Churchtown, with the suspect allegedly approaching the youngster at a bus stop and continuing his unwanted advances on the bus.
Details of the assaults
According to authorities, the man touched the girl's thigh and arm without her consent and made sexual comments towards her. The victim reportedly called the police while still on the vehicle. Similar incidents were reported on Brookfield Road in Churchtown at around 3:30 PM across multiple days.
Arrest and bail
On Wednesday, the girl alerted officers that the same man was on the bus and had approached her again. When the bus driver became aware of the situation, he stopped the vehicle and prevented the suspect from leaving. A man in his 40s from Gloucester was subsequently arrested and later released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
Police appeal
Gloucestershire Constabulary is appealing for witnesses or anyone with mobile phone or CCTV footage that could assist their investigation. Officers urge members of the public who may have information to come forward and contact the force.
