Two men have pleaded guilty after a bag of guns was found discarded on a Glasgow street. Reece Brown, 25, and Daniel Curran, 22, admitted firearms offences at the High Court in Glasgow following the discovery.
Discovery on Tynecastle Street
Armed police were called to Tynecastle Street in Springboig after the guns and ammunition were found at around 8.55pm on Tuesday, May 5. A large cordon was set up around a wooded footpath while officers investigated.
Extensive police enquiries led to a number of warrants being executed in the city 10 days later. Both Brown and Curran were subsequently arrested and charged.
Police Response
Detective Sergeant Clarke said: "To discard firearms shows absolutely no regard for the safety of the local community. Thankfully they were recovered by officers before they could cause serious injury to someone – or worse."
He added: "Violence and the carrying of firearms is completely unacceptable. I believe these convictions sends a message to those involved in serious criminality that we remain determined to bring you to justice."
Clarke described the recovery as significant and noted that police worked closely with a range of partners to secure the convictions. He also thanked the public for their support throughout the investigation.
