Court proceedings

Prosecutor Anna Parry said the victim suffered a single stab wound to the back. She managed to withdraw the knife and attempted to leave the scene but then collapsed and died in the street, the court heard.

Presiding justice Richard Morris adjourned the case to July 22 at Cardiff Crown Court. Williams remains remanded in custody ahead of the hearing.

Police appeal

Detective Superintendent Matt Sedgebeer said on Sunday: "Our enquiries are ongoing, we continue to have a significant police presence in the area, and I ask anyone with any information that can help the investigation to contact us."

"One man has now been charged with murder and with this in mind I'd ask people not to speculate about this case online while the legal process takes its course. Such comments can have an impact on our ability to bring anyone found to have committed a criminal offence to justice."

Anyone with any information, including CCTV or dashcam footage from between the hours of 1am and 3am on Saturday, July 18, is urged to contact the police by calling 101 and quoting the reference number 2600229981. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
