Police bodycam footage captured the moment Mark Fraser hurled glass bottles at a police car that was responding to a 999 emergency. The bag of glass bottles shattered the windscreen, forcing the officer to stop rather than continue to the emergency.
Immediate Aftermath
Fraser said to the officer, "I don't know why I done that" just moments after the incident in November last year. The officer responded, "You could've killed me mate," to which Fraser replied, "Sorry about that butt. Genuinely."
The 40-year-old, of Hirwaun Road, Aberdare, also resisted officers who tried to arrest him, police said. He caused £900 in damage to the police car.
Court Sentencing
Fraser later pleaded guilty to criminal damage recklessly endangering life and was sentenced at Merthyr Crown Court on July 29.
He was given a three-year prison sentence, suspended for three years, and was ordered to pay over £6,000 in compensation and court costs. He will also have to do 250 hours of unpaid work.
