Carl Cooper, 36, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Shane Cullen, 31, following a fatal incident at a karaoke bar in Tameside.
Cooper appeared via videolink at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court on Tuesday, August 18. He is charged with one offence of murder, one offence of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and two offences of common assault.
During a pretrial and preparation hearing, Cooper, of Ashton-under-Lyne, entered not guilty pleas to murder, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and one offence of common assault.
Court Proceedings
A further case management hearing was set for November 10, and a trial has been set for January 11, 2027. Cooper, of Smallshaw Lane, was remanded into custody.
Incident Details
Emergency services were called to the Blues Cabaret and Karaoke Bar on Bow Street in Ashton-under-Lyne at around 2.40am on July 11 to reports of a 'physical altercation'. Shane Cullen, a dad of one, was pronounced dead at the scene.
