Hunt for Northern line sex attacker after two Tube assaults

British Transport Police detectives investigating two sexual assaults on Tube trains in London have launched a CCTV picture appeal.

The first attack happened around 8.40pm on Saturday, August 1, when a man sexually assaulted a woman on board a Northern line train at Waterloo Underground station. When she turned around, the man had exposed himself. He then left the service and boarded a northbound Northern line train.

Second assault days later

The same man then sexually assaulted another woman two days later, at around 8pm on August 3, again on board a Northern line train, near Euston.

In February, the Standard revealed that crime on the London Underground rose last year, with more violence, public disorder and a massive increase in vandalism reported to police. A total of 12,951 offences on the Tube were logged between July and December 2025, up from 12,606 in the same period a year earlier - a 2.7 per cent increase. This was primarily driven by a 152 per cent rise in reports of criminal damage, up from 947 to 2,390 incidents, as a result of the graffiti epidemic on the Underground. But sexual assaults on the Tube fell by almost 11 per cent, from 499 to 445 incidents.
