In Monday's episode of Coronation Street, police arrested Sarah Platt for the murder of Theo Silverton, after discovering his blood on her clothing. The evidence, which had been held since Sarah was attacked by Jodie Ramsey and taken to hospital, proved to be her undoing.
How Theo Died and the Cover-Up
Viewers know that Sarah killed Theo earlier this year during a confrontation on scaffolding outside his flat. When Theo threatened her, she struck him with a metal pole, causing him to fall to his death. Sarah then called Gary Windass for help. He told her to go home and ensure she was seen to create an alibi, while he handled the scene.
Neither anticipated that Sarah would be attacked by Jodie Ramsey and hospitalized. At the time, this seemed like a perfect alibi, but it ultimately led to her downfall. The police took her clothes for evidence after the attack, and those clothes were never returned.
Kit Green's Investigation
DC Kit Green, who had been taken off the murder case, continued to investigate independently. After Sarah confessed the truth to him earlier this month, he worked to keep police away from her. In Monday's episode, he believed Gary would be questioned, but Sarah revealed that her clothes were still in police custody.
Kit promised to check if they had been tested for evidence. Unfortunately, the tests revealed Theo's blood on Sarah's clothes, leading to her arrest and interrogation by DS Lisa Connor-Swain.
The Interrogation and a New Theory
During questioning, DS Connor-Swain demanded Sarah explain how Theo's blood got on her clothes. After the interview, DC McLaughlin shared a theory with Lisa: that Sarah accidentally killed Theo, and Kit covered it up. This raises the possibility that Kit may also face interrogation.
