Boston Jill Plans Hogmanay Scotland Return After Ex Jailed

US mum Jill Roberts, known online as 'Boston Jill', has announced she will return to Scotland for Hogmanay, just days after her ex-flame Tommy Morrison was jailed for a brutal pub attack. The 42-year-old, who went viral for her whirlwind romance with the Tartan Army footsoldier, shared the news with her 33,000 Facebook followers.

Jailed for Brutal Attack

Morrison, 38, from Bonnyrigg in Midlothian, was sentenced to 14 months in prison at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday after pleading guilty to assault to severe injury and serious impairment in connection with an attack on Ryan Wain. The charge had originally been brought as attempted murder before being reduced.

The court heard how Wain and a woman had visited the Calderwood Inn and the Anvil Inn in Bonnyrigg while on a pub crawl in May 2025 when they crossed paths with Morrison. Morrison allegedly shouted "woman beater" at Wain before grabbing him and hauling him to the ground, causing his head to smash against the concrete.

Morrison continued punching and kicking Wain while he lay unconscious before fleeing towards the Anvil Inn. Wain was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and diagnosed with a frontal skull fracture, suffering hearing loss and an impaired sense of smell and taste. Morrison handed himself in to police three weeks after the attack.

Plans for Hogmanay Trip

Jill had previously visited Scotland in September for what was meant to be a reunion with Tommy, after the romance ended in August. During that visit, she met supporters and watched Celtic beat Aberdeen at Parkhead.

Sharing an update, Jill said: "I plan on coming back to Scotland for Hogmanay. I don't know all the specifics but I think I'll be there maybe around the 28-29th, and then again in early January. I'm going to go to Glasgow again and then Aberdeen to see my friend, plus some more stuff."

She added: "At this point I don't think it should shock me when people from Scotland are ridiculously nice and kind. Thank you so much for being so supportive and understanding. I thought I didn't need it, but things do bother you."

Lessons from Scottish Culture

Jill also revealed what she has learned from Scottish culture, saying: "One of them is trusting your bulls*** detector and not tolerating advice that doesn't matter. For example, if someone is saying something nasty to you online or in person or giving you feedback that you definitely weren't looking for, if you don't respect their choices, why would you listen to their unsolicited advice?"

She continued: "I'm learning to do that more as a person and it gives me a lot more peace of mind. Also just knowing that there are so many other people that've been in similar positions or that are in similar phases of life in your early forties where you can feel okay about doing things for yourself... All this to say thank you again for being so understanding and supportive and for not jumping on the bandwagon and making things toxic and nasty because there's literally no need for it. Life is short and I'm fully aware of that. We're doing all the fun things this year, guys. We're living our lives to the fullest."

Morrison became known online as 'Tartan Army Tommy' after his chance encounter with 'Boston Jill' in June captured the imagination of football fans. Jill had travelled to watch the Boston Red Sox during Pride Night, unaware that thousands of Scotland supporters would also be at the ballpark for the game against the Toronto Blue Jays. On her way home, she bumped into Morrison and recorded their brief conversation, which quickly attracted thousands of views and sparked a search for the mystery Scotsman. Since their break-up, Morrison has reportedly posted a snap with a mystery woman.
