Khadeem Parris, a 16-year-old from Motherwell, Scotland, was fatally stabbed in Northampton, prompting a murder investigation by Northamptonshire Police. Family Tribute to 'Funny, Smiling Boy'
Khadeem's family paid tribute to him, describing him as a "funny, smiling boy" who loved singing, joking, and was kind-hearted. He had overcome challenges in his young life and was excited to start college in August, studying to become a plumber and electrician. The family highlighted his love for computer games and football, and his close bond with his older brother and younger sister. They expressed their devastation: "Words can't explain how we feel at this time. We cannot understand it and we are utterly heartbroken at his loss. Khadeem, we love you, we miss you and you will always be in our hearts."
Police Investigation and Arrests
Detectives believe the attack was targeted. A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday and remains in police custody. Three others—a 19-year-old man, a 56-year-old man, and a 51-year-old woman, all from Northampton—were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and released on bail pending further inquiries. Warrants have been executed at several addresses in Northampton as officers pursue multiple lines of inquiry.
Appeal for Information
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Ryan Catling appealed for information: "Any small piece of information or camera footage is useful and could be the vital detail we need as part of our enquiry." Police urge anyone in the Adnitt Road area between 6.30pm and 7pm on July 7, or with CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage, to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
Context of Recent Teenage Stabbings in Scotland
Khadeem's death follows several fatal stabbings of Scottish teenagers in recent years. In May 2024, 16-year-old Kory McCrimnon died after being stabbed in the heart in Glasgow's east end; a 14-year-old boy was detained for five years for culpable homicide. In 2025, 15-year-old Amen Teklay was found seriously injured in Glasgow's Maryhill; two boys were found not guilty of his murder. Weeks later, 16-year-old Kayden Moy was chased and stabbed at Irvine Beach in Ayrshire; Jay Stewart, 18, and a 15-year-old boy were found guilty of his murder, while Cole Turley, 18, admitted his role.
