Vickrum Digwa, the convicted killer of teenager Henry Nowak, has denied possessing a cache of weapons allegedly discovered at his family home. The 23-year-old appeared via videolink from HMP Frankland at Southampton Magistrates' Court on July 9, 2026, where he pleaded not guilty to seven counts of possessing an offensive weapon in a private place, alongside his father and brother.
Alleged Arsenal Includes Machetes, Swords, and Knuckledusters
The alleged weapons include three machetes, 37 swords, three ninja swords, two flick-knives or gravity knives, eight knuckledusters, an extendable baton, and a manriki-gusari. The charges relate to December 4, 2025—the day after Digwa fatally stabbed Henry Nowak in a random street attack using a ceremonial sword.
District Judge Henry Gordon set a trial date for September 27, 2027, with a case management hearing scheduled for June 4, 2027. Digwa is currently serving a 21-year jail term for the murder of the University of Southampton student.
Father and Brother Also Charged
Digwa's father, Moga Singh, 52, and brother, Gurpreet Digwa, 27, face the same seven counts. Gurpreet additionally faces four counts: possessing an extendable baton in a public place, possessing a prohibited air weapon in a public place, possessing an axe in a public place, and possessing a Kirpan in a public place.
Background of the Murder Case
Henry Nowak was stabbed five times by Digwa on December 3, 2025, while walking home from a night out. Digwa initially lied to police, accusing the teenager of racism. Body-worn video footage showed Henry handcuffed, repeatedly telling officers he had been stabbed, with one officer responding, “I don’t think you have, mate.” He became unconscious and died an hour later.
The case sparked public outrage and an IOPC investigation into Hampshire Police. Henry's father, Mark Nowak, described his son's treatment as “degrading” and “inhumane,” saying: “Henry did not die with dignity. He did not die with the care he deserved. He lost consciousness before anyone believed him.”
