Child Killer Rosdeep Adekoya Removed from Glasgow Home Amid Protests

Police removed child killer Rosdeep Adekoya from a house in Glasgow after it was swarmed by protesters. Adekoya, 41, beat her son Mikaeel Kular, three, to death before hiding his body in a suitcase in January 2014. She was sentenced to 11 years in jail but served just six before her release from Cornton Vale in April 2021.

Protesters turned up at the house in the city's East End on Monday night after being alerted by locals and demanded that she be removed from the area. Footage shows Adekoya being led out of the house in the Greenfield area by uniformed police officers on Monday, July 6. She is led into the back of a police car before it sped away, and locals can be heard heckling. One yelled 'you f***ing monster' and another shouted 'child killer.'

Speaking to the Record, a local source explained Adekoya had been in the area for months.

Benefits Cheat Who Claimed Immobility Found Running Takeaway

A woman who claimed she could barely walk claimed thousands of pounds of disability benefits while running a takeaway. Julie Smith was filmed by fraud investigators as she cooked and served food to customers. Hamilton Sheriff Court heard they also watched her driving to shops and loading her car with foodstuffs.

Smith, 47, of Wishaw, admitted providing false or misleading information to obtain £13,720.17 from Social Security Scotland between August 2022 and March 2024. Cameron Murdoch, prosecuting, said she applied for adult disability payment, claiming she was in constant pain from fibromyalgia and arthritis, and also suffered from anxiety. After checking with Smith's GP, officials awarded her a lump sum of £2,147.95 and started paying her £505.40 a month. Later they were tipped off that she was working full time at JM Munchies in nearby Coatbridge.

Crackdown on Pyrotechnics and Pitch Invasions in Scottish Football

Scots football fans face banning orders if they are caught using pyrotechnics in stadiums or participating in pitch invasions under a clampdown announced today. The SNP Government confirmed it will hand courts new powers to include specific offences in an effort to improve the matchday experience and safety at games.

The use of flares and smoke bombs has rocketed in recent years despite repeated warnings against their use by clubs and police. It is already illegal to carry fireworks or flares into football matches after legislation passed in 2023, but it is hoped extending football banning orders (FBOs) will finally deter fans from their use. SNP ministers will introduce legislation in the Scottish Parliament which will include targeted and specific measures to strengthen FBOs to cover behaviour such as the use of pyrotechnics, pitch invasions and throwing missiles.
