3-Year-Old Dies in Locked Car During French Heatwave

A 3-year-old child has died after becoming locked inside a family car in France during a severe heatwave, with temperatures reaching 39°C in Paris.

Incident Details

The tragedy occurred on Wednesday evening in Saint-Gratien, a suburb north of Paris. The child was discovered by his parents in cardiac arrest inside the locked vehicle around 7pm. Emergency services were called immediately, but the child could not be revived.

According to local reports, the parents had lost track of the child, who then entered the car and became trapped. The vehicle was parked at the family home. Temperatures in the region had soared to 39°C, with the interior of a car in direct sunlight potentially reaching over 50°C.

Rising Heatwave Deaths

This is at least the second such incident in France this year during the ongoing heatwave. Earlier in June, another child died under similar circumstances in the south of the country. Authorities are urging parents to be vigilant and never leave children unattended in vehicles.

France is currently experiencing a prolonged heatwave, with temperatures exceeding 40°C in some areas. The national weather service has issued red alerts for several regions. Health officials have warned that high temperatures can be deadly, especially for vulnerable populations such as children and the elderly.
