A major fire that erupted on Tuesday evening sparked travel chaos in London. The Windrush Line is suspended following the blaze in Bermondsey that erupted yesterday at around 8pm.
Service suspensions and warnings
Transport for London (TfL) said on its site before 7.30am: "Windrush Line: No service on the entire line due to a earlier track side fire near Bermondsey."
Similarly, National Rail warned the fire affecting a property near the railway in the New Cross Gate area "means that London Overground Windrush line services are currently unable to run".
Disruption expected until 11:00
A post on X also warned: "As a result, trains will be cancelled. Disruption is expected until approximately 11:00".
Elsewhere on TfL, the Metropolitan and Circle lines were hit by severe delays this morning due to an earlier fire alert at Farringdon. On the Hammersmith & City, the incident prompted the suspension of the entire line.
