Commuters in London are facing significant rush-hour disruptions at Waterloo and Euston stations following damage to overhead electric wires between Watford Junction and Milton Keynes. The incident, which occurred earlier this evening, has caused severe delays on multiple train routes, with large queues forming at Waterloo and disruption expected at Euston until 9pm.
Affected Routes
National Rail has confirmed that the following services are impacted:
- Avanti West Coast between London Euston and Birmingham New Street, Wolverhampton, Wrexham General, Crewe, Chester, Holyhead, Liverpool Lime Street, Manchester Piccadilly, Blackpool North, Glasgow Central, and Edinburgh.
- London Northwestern Railway between London Euston and Tring, Bletchley, Milton Keynes Central, Northampton, Birmingham New Street, and Crewe.
- Southern between East Croydon and Watford Junction.
Trains on these routes may be cancelled, delayed by up to 110 minutes, or revised. A lineside fire in the area is also contributing to the disruption.
Jubilee Line Delays
In addition to the mainline issues, there are severe delays on the Jubilee Line this evening due to an earlier track fault at Kilburn. Transport for London is advising passengers to use alternative services, with tickets being accepted on London Buses, London Overground, the Elizabeth line, Thameslink, Southeastern, and the DLR.
Advice for Passengers
Commuters are urged to check their journeys before travelling and allow extra time. Tickets are being accepted on alternative routes for those affected by the mainline disruptions. National Rail expects the situation to continue until the end of the day.
