Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority confirmed late Tuesday evening that a cargo aircraft vanished off the coast of Karachi after a rapid descent and loss of communication with air traffic controllers during a flight from the United Arab Emirates. Search-and-rescue operations are currently underway in the Arabian Sea, authorities stated on X.
Flight Details and Malfunction Report
The Boeing 737, operated by Karachi-based carrier K2 Airways, was on a freight route from Sharjah in the UAE to Karachi. At 9:18 PM local time, the crew reported a navigation system malfunction to air traffic control, according to the Civil Aviation Authority. The aircraft had five people on board.
