Major Gulf airlines are resuming a limited number of flights from the United Arab Emirates, primarily to repatriate passengers stranded by the escalating regional conflict in the Middle East. The airspace across parts of the region, including the UAE, had been closed following US-Israeli attacks on Iran and Tehran's retaliatory strikes, which forced key airports like Dubai and Doha to shut down.
UAE Aviation Authority Coordinates Special Flights
The UAE civil aviation authority has announced it will operate special flights to assist tens of thousands of affected travellers. Dubai Airports has confirmed a limited resumption of services from Dubai International and Al Maktoum International, aiming to ease the disruption caused by the airspace closures.
Emirates and flydubai Resume Limited Services
Emirates and flydubai have both stated that a small number of flights will resume on Monday evening. flydubai has scheduled flights to destinations including Russia, Pakistan, and Hargeisa, focusing on repatriation efforts for stranded passengers.
Etihad Adjusts Operations Amid Cancellations
Etihad Airways has reported that all scheduled commercial services to and from Abu Dhabi remain cancelled until Tuesday. However, the airline will resume some repositioning, cargo, and repatriation flights, with routes including London and Paris, to support the movement of passengers and essential goods.
The situation remains fluid, with airlines closely monitoring the conflict's impact on regional air travel. Passengers are advised to check with their carriers for the latest updates on flight availability and safety protocols.
