A bus plunged into the River Seine in Juvisy-sur-Orge, south of Paris, France, around 9:30 AM local time. All four individuals on board—the driver, her tutor, and two passengers—were safely rescued from the submerged vehicle. Towing teams later removed the bus from the river, and divers confirmed that no one else remained trapped inside.
Swift Emergency Response
The mayor of Juvisy, Lamia Bensarsa Reda, expressed her shock at the incident but praised the rapid response of police and emergency services. She confirmed that there were no casualties, highlighting the effectiveness of the rescue operation.
Investigation Launched
Île-de-France Mobilités, the regional transport authority, is expected to launch an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. The incident occurred during a training lesson, with the trainee driver at the wheel. Authorities are examining whether mechanical failure, human error, or other factors contributed to the bus veering off the road and into the river.
The bus was later recovered by towing teams, and the area has been secured. The passengers and driver are receiving support following the ordeal. This incident has raised concerns about safety protocols for trainee drivers operating in urban areas near waterways.
