Sky Merges Cinema Animation with Family Channel April 30

Sky is implementing a significant channel change on April 30, combining two of its movie services into one. The television provider has confirmed that Sky Cinema Animation (channel 312) will merge with Sky Cinema Family, streamlining the offering for family-friendly films.

What the Change Means for Viewers

According to Sky, the merger aims to simplify the service by creating a single destination for family-friendly content on channel 304. While this reduces the number of dedicated channels, Sky assures that all content previously available on Sky Cinema Animation will continue to be accessible through Sky Cinema Family. After the switch, viewers can find titles such as the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, Smurfs, How to Train Your Dragon, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Wicked all in one place.

Temporary Return During School Holidays

For fans of Sky Cinema Animation, the standalone channel will not disappear permanently. Sky has confirmed it will return temporarily during school holiday periods to keep children entertained. The channel will be available from July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5.

Sky Enters Home Security Market

In addition to the channel shake-up, Sky has launched new smart home security devices. Customers can sign up for a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront cost. The system includes full HD video recording, instant mobile alerts, customisable activity zones, two-way audio, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For those seeking extra features, Sky offers a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ for £8 per month and a £20 upfront fee. This package adds an indoor camera and additional app controls, including scheduled arming and automatic device modes.

Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, stated that the aim is to make premium smart technology more accessible. He emphasised that Sky has focused on the features customers value most while ensuring they remain simple to use, easy to manage, and affordable.
