A serious collision involving a motorbike has led to the closure of a section of the M25 in Hertfordshire, causing significant delays for motorists. The anticlockwise carriageway was shut between junction 23 (A1M, South Mimms) and junction 22 (St Albans), National Highways confirmed.
Emergency services, including Hertfordshire Police and the East of England Ambulance Service, attended the scene. National Highways traffic officers also provided assistance with traffic management. The road closure extended for approximately five miles between London Colney and Dancers Hill.
Drivers faced delays of up to 60 minutes, with around six miles of congestion approaching the closure at junction 23. National Highways advised motorists to plan ahead, re-route, or delay their journeys. Diverted traffic was directed to follow the hollow square diversion symbol.
Traffic conditions were expected to return to normal by around 9pm to 9.15pm, although National Highways noted that this was an estimate and subject to change. The road has since reopened and traffic has cleared following the earlier incident.
