Reason for Delays
Royal Mail said: "We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors."
"In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive. We're sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding."
Christmas Posting Dates
Royal Mail has also published its Christmas posting dates, urging customers to post as early as possible to avoid delays. It said: "It's always advisable to post as early as possible to ensure that your Christmas letters and parcels reach their destination in good time."
No collections or deliveries will be made on Friday, December 25 (Christmas Day), Saturday, December 26 (Boxing Day), or Monday, December 28 (substitute Bank Holiday for Boxing Day). The last postal deliveries before Christmas will take place on Thursday, December 24 (Christmas Eve), with services resuming on Tuesday, December 29.
The last posting dates are Friday, December 18 for Second Class postage and Monday, December 21 for First Class.
