Naples Airport to Close for Month in November, Affecting easyJet and Ryanair
Naples Airport November Closure Hits easyJet and Ryanair

Naples Capodichino Airport, one of Italy's busiest hubs, will shut down for the entire month of November 2026 to undergo extensive modernisation works, grounding flights operated by easyJet and Ryanair.

The closure is part of a major upgrade project aimed at boosting passenger numbers. Currently, around 13 million travellers pass through the airport annually, a figure expected to rise to 17.3 million by 2035. During November, however, footfall will drop sharply as the airport remains closed.

Scope of the Modernisation Works

The renovation includes a full refurbishment of the runway, the construction of a second terminal for non-Schengen flights—which would include routes to the UK—new aircraft stands, a new cargo and logistics area, and a new hotel, along with improved road and underground connections. The area surrounding the airport will also be redeveloped.

According to the Naples Airport website, the closure is scheduled for "extensive and planned runway upgrades, in compliance with stringent industry regulations and in line with GESAC's priority commitment to ensuring the highest safety standards."

Airlines Affected and Alternative Arrangements

Several airlines operate out of Naples, including easyJet from London Gatwick and Ryanair from London Stansted, Manchester, and Edinburgh. Passengers affected by the closure are being directed to the new Salerno-Pontecagnano Airport for the duration of the works.

The airport is scheduled to reopen on November 30. To help travellers reach the alternative hub, GESAC, the company managing Naples Airport, has launched a shuttle bus service between Naples Piazza Garibaldi and Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Cilento Airport.

The shuttle will run eight services in each direction per day, at a cost of €12 (£10.04) per person. A train service from Naples Central to Salerno is also available for £5 per way.
