Signalling problems at Manchester Airport have led to dozens of train cancellations to and from Manchester Piccadilly, with disruption expected to last for the rest of the day.
Northern, Transport for Wales and TransPennine Express services have all been affected by the issue this morning (October 23). National Rail says services are likely to be impacted for the remainder of the day, although TransPennine Express hopes to have a normal service restored for its trains this morning.
Points failure reoccurs
The disruption follows a points failure reported earlier this morning, which reoccurred later on. A National Rail spokesperson said: "The earlier points failure at Manchester Airport has reoccurred. As a result, services operating to / from this station may be cancelled or revised. Disruption is expected for the remainder of the day."
Northern services to and from Crewe and Windermere are not calling at the airport as a result of the disruption. Ticket restrictions for affected passengers have been lifted.
