The M62 motorway remains closed in Greater Manchester on Sunday morning after a serious collision late Saturday night left a car overturned on the carriageway.
Emergency services, including firefighters and police, were called to the scene on the eastbound carriageway shortly after 11pm on July 11. The crash involved two cars and led to a full closure between junction 20 (Thornham Interchange) and junction 22 (Denshaw), near Saddleworth.
Investigation and Diversions
National Highways confirmed that accident investigation work is being carried out between the A627(M) at Rochdale and the A672 at Rishworth Moor. Diversions are in place, and motorists are urged to avoid the area and follow signed alternative routes.
Images from the scene show a car flipped onto its roof on the carriageway. Traffic caught within the closure was turned around and released via the rear of the queue, according to National Highways.
