Motorists planning to use the M25 this morning have been urged to delay their journeys as two out of three lanes are currently closed for emergency road surface repairs. The closure is on the anti-clockwise carriageway near junction 27 in Essex, leading to 11 miles of congestion and delays of over 90 minutes.
Emergency Repairs Cause Major Disruption
National Highways confirmed that the lane closures are due to emergency road surface repairs. The link road from the M11 southbound to the M25 anti-clockwise at junction 27 is also closed. There is no estimated time for when the lanes will reopen.
A National Highways statement said: "As a result of these works, the link road from the M11 southbound to the M25 anti-clockwise at J27 is also closed. If this impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time as there is 11 miles of congestion on approach to the lane closures. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."
Impact on Commuters
Drivers are experiencing significant delays, with queues stretching for 11 miles. The disruption is expected to continue until repairs are completed, with no reopening time provided. Commuters are advised to seek alternative routes or postpone travel if possible.
