A HGV driver suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash early Friday morning on the M61 motorway in Lancashire. The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 AM at the roundabout connecting the M61 and M65, known as the Clayton Brook Interchange.
Lorry Overturns at Interchange
The lorry reportedly overturned during the collision. Lancashire Police confirmed that no other vehicles were involved. The driver was transported to a hospital with what authorities described as serious injuries.
Police were called to the scene at 1:15 AM. In a statement, Lancashire Police said: "We were called at 1.15am this morning to a report of a single-vehicle collision at the roundabout at the junction of the M61 and M65 (the Clayton Brook Interchange). The lorry driver has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. We remain at the scene and road closures remain in place."
Road Closures and Traffic Delays
The M61 northbound exit slip road to the M65 westbound remains closed. There are reports of slow traffic on the approach to junction nine of the M65 and junction two at Clayton Brook. The roundabout is partially blocked as emergency services continue their work.
