Freight train derailment near Barking disrupts east London rail

A freight train derailed between Woodgrange Park and Barking on Tuesday, blocking two platforms and causing widespread disruption to rail services across east London for the rest of the day.

Services cancelled and diverted

Several rail services have been cancelled or diverted as a result of the incident. Passengers travelling through Barking are being warned to expect delays of around 10 minutes, with trains either cancelled or revised.

No services are calling at Dagenham Dock, Rainham or Purfleet, and passengers are being advised to expect delays and service alterations.

Overground and c2c affected

London Overground services have been revised to run only between Gospel Oak and South Tottenham. Meanwhile, c2c services have been suspended between Barking and Grays via Dagenham Dock, Rainham and Purfleet.

The disruption is expected to continue until at least the end of the day. This is a developing story, with more details to follow.
