A seemingly abandoned car in Ayr is causing frustration for motorists in Parkhouse Street. The vehicle, a red 2010 Nissan Qashqai Diesel, is parked at an awkward angle, jutting out into the one-way street and forcing drivers to navigate around it.
Vehicle Left for Weeks
It is believed the car has been in the same spot for approximately three weeks. Traffic wardens have issued at least six parking tickets, which are visible on the front windscreen. Despite this, no action has been taken to remove the vehicle.
Public Outcry
The situation has been highlighted on the Facebook page 'C**p Parking in Ayrshire,' where residents have expressed their concerns. One user commented: "This car has been here for three weeks now. The back end sticking out over the parking bay into the carriageway has been clipped. Instead of plastering it in parking tickets, shouldn't the traffic wardens be contacting the appropriate body to get it lifted?"
Another resident questioned: "Why can they not trace the owner's address and do a wellness check?" Others suggested contacting the police, as they can trace the owner and request removal.
Authority Response
Ayrshire Live contacted the Ayrshire Roads Alliance (ARA), who stated that the vehicle has been reported to the police for uplift, as ARA does not have the authority to remove it.
The car shows signs of damage, and its continued presence poses a risk to both motorists and pedestrians in the busy town centre.
