Virgin Atlantic Unveils Major Redesign of Heathrow Clubhouse
Virgin Atlantic has officially revealed the newly refurbished Clubhouse at London Heathrow Airport, marking the completion of the first phase in a significant redesign project. The upgraded lounge now features a dedicated cinema area, an exclusive VIP space, and a spa offering a curated selection of treatments, all aimed at enhancing the ground experience for Upper Class customers.
Exclusive VIP Experience with the Royal Box
Inspired by the airline's Los Angeles Clubhouse, the London hub introduces the newly installed Royal Box area, designed to deliver a theatrical take on the VIP experience. This invite-only space serves as a hideaway from the wider lounge, offering clear views of the runway and described as providing 'the best seats in the house'. The private area is furnished with suede-lined sofas in Virgin's signature red and centres around a 'Cabinet of Curiosities'—a bespoke table filled with indulgent sweet treats and champagne moments.
Enhanced Workspaces and Redesigned Gallery
The Clubhouse has also introduced two dedicated Work Pod studios, each equipped with integrated power and a sleek, modern desk setup. These pods feature 'on air' signs that light up when occupied and are decorated with studio-inspired artwork, including framed vinyl records as a nod to Virgin Records. Meanwhile, the Gallery, the most in-demand space in the Clubhouse, has been redesigned to maximise space and enhance its panoramic runway views. It now boasts a range of seating options to accommodate more guests, with specific areas tailored for business travellers, groups, and couples.
Drawing inspiration from Vivienne Westwood's uniform and London's transport heritage, the space incorporates warm brass tailfin accents and pops of livery red. Custom lighting, integrated plants, and a curated collection of colourful artworks by UK-based artists line the walls, while integrated power and discreet baggage storage ensure practicality and a streamlined aesthetic.
Immersive Cinema and Wellness Pop-Ups
Inspired by London's members' clubs and private screening rooms in Soho, the Cinema has been reimagined as an intimate, immersive space for relaxation. It features enhanced sound quality with acoustic wall panes, upgraded seating including royal blue armchairs and spacious red sofas, and now includes integrated charging points, TV access, and Bluetooth headphones.
For guests seeking wellbeing before their flight, the Clubhouse has introduced two new pop-up wellness experiences. From today until 31 May, passengers can enjoy complimentary sessions in one of three Somadomes—the world's first immersive wellness domes that combine light therapy, colour, sound healing, binaural beats, and meditation for a mental reset in as little as 20 minutes. Additionally, Secret Spa is offering treatments such as express massages, glow-boosting facials, manicures, and express treatments until 30 April. To mark Virgin Atlantic's new route to Seoul, expert therapists will apply OSKIA skincare, OPI nail products, and popular K-beauty brands.
Commitment to Innovation and Future Plans
Juha Jaervinen, Chief Customer Officer at Virgin Atlantic, commented on the redesign, stating, 'The Clubhouse is an iconic part of the Virgin Atlantic experience, and we’re proud to be unveiling a bold new chapter at Heathrow. This investment reflects our commitment to continually innovating for our customers, combining wellbeing, entertainment, and distinctive design in a way only Virgin Atlantic can.' He added that this is just the beginning, with more exciting plans to come, including new ways for guests to enjoy plane spotting from the roof terrace while soaking up the London sunshine.
