A Virgin Atlantic flight attendant has tragically died after falling from a hotel balcony near John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
The 46-year-old cabin crew member, who was based in London, fell from the upper floors of the Crowne Plaza hotel at JFK on Monday. Emergency services rushed to the scene but were unable to save him.
The airline confirmed the devastating news in a statement, saying: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved colleague. Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time."
Ongoing Investigation
New York Police Department officials have confirmed they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall. While the incident is not currently being treated as suspicious, authorities continue to gather evidence and speak with witnesses.
The flight attendant had been part of the Virgin Atlantic team for several years and was described by colleagues as a dedicated and popular member of staff.
Airline Support Efforts
Virgin Atlantic has implemented its full support programme for affected crew members, offering counselling and emotional support to staff struggling with the tragic loss.
"We're doing everything we can to support our team who have lost a friend and colleague," an airline spokesperson added.
The identity of the flight attendant has not been officially released pending notification of all family members. The UK Foreign Office has confirmed it is providing support to the family of a British man who died in New York.
