Las Vegas experienced a more than 8 percent decline in weddings last year, prompting venues to seek fresh ways to attract couples. Known as the wedding capital of the world, the city has long been a top destination for nuptials, with celebrity weddings such as Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s in 1967 adding to its fame.
Clark County, which encompasses Las Vegas, recorded over 70,000 weddings in 2025, more than 6,000 fewer than the previous year, according to County Clerk Lynn Marie Goya. The county has hosted more than 5 million weddings over the decades, Goya told Fox 5 Vegas, with the vast majority being destination weddings.
To counter the decline, venues have become more creative. The Chapel of the Flowers added 16,000 hanging flowers and crystal chandeliers to create an ‘Instagram look,’ according to Donnie Kerestick. The chapel also launched a giveaway offering 87 free weddings or vow renewals, but with a condition: the promotion only applies if Taylor Swift and her fiancé Travis Kelce—who wears jersey number 87 for the Kansas City Chiefs—marry in Las Vegas. However, sources suggest the couple is planning a coastal Rhode Island wedding.
Despite the dip, wedding tourism still generates an estimated $3.3 billion annually, ensuring the tradition of tying the knot in Las Vegas remains economically significant.
