TUI has named Turkey as the top destination for warmth and sunshine this summer, according to its newly published 'ideal weather holiday guide'. The research, based on historical weather data across more than 150 European destinations, gives Turkey an ideal weather score of 8.70 out of 10, with an average temperature of 27°C, low wind speeds, and minimal rainfall.
The findings come as Britons experience a brief warm spell, but forecasters warn of returning rain. Google Trends data cited by TUI shows searches for 'best family holiday destinations abroad' have surged by 5,000% over the past month, highlighting the demand for guaranteed sunshine.
Turkey's Dalaman and Gocek resorts top the list with an ideal weather score of 9.36 out of 10, featuring highs of 28°C and virtually no rainfall. TUI notes that nine of the top 10 spots for summer weather are in Turkey, offering 'settled, sunny conditions' for families.
Cyprus ranks second with a score of 8.57, offering average temperatures of 27.45°C and gentle breezes. Greece comes third with a score of 7.60 and average temperatures of 25.98°C. For those seeking the driest option, Gibraltar records just 0.05mm of rainfall and is a 2.5-hour flight from the UK.
