Travelodge Offers Free 'Wrapping Rooms' to Keep Christmas Secrets Safe
Travelodge's Free Christmas Gift Wrapping Rooms Revealed

In a bid to save Christmas surprises from prying eyes, the budget hotel chain Travelodge has announced a novel festive service. The company will open dedicated 'wrapping rooms' in three major UK cities, offering parents and gift-givers a private space to prepare their presents away from inquisitive children and family members.

The Festive Secrecy Struggle

New research commissioned by Travelodge highlights a common yuletide anxiety. It found that over half of UK adults (52%) wish they didn't have to worry about being caught in the act of wrapping gifts. The pressure is particularly acute for parents, with two-fifths (40%) feeling on edge about their children discovering what's under the tree before Christmas Day.

The study revealed the extraordinary lengths people go to for a bit of privacy. Many Brits admit to wrapping presents in unconventional locations, including at their workplace, on public transport, or even locked in the bathroom. Notably, the survey identified a hotel room as one private location ideal for keeping secrets under wraps.

Travelodge's Festive Solution

Inspired by a viral social media post showing a mother renting a hotel room solely for wrapping, Travelodge decided to act. On Wednesday, December 10th, the chain will offer free 75-minute slots in specially prepared rooms at three locations: London Chiswick High Road, Manchester Piccadilly, and Edinburgh Central.

The sessions will run between 9am and 5.15pm. Each room will be "fully stocked" with all the necessary supplies, including wrapping paper, tape, and festive finishing touches. To complete the experience, guests will also be offered refreshments and a traditional mince pie.

How to Book Your Private Wrapping Space

Demand for the free service is expected to be high. Those wishing to secure a slot must email PR.events@travelodge.co.uk to make a booking. The offer is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The research suggests there is a significant appetite for such a service, with over a quarter (26%) of Brits stating they would consider booking a hotel room for wrapping privacy. Alternative private spots favoured by respondents included shop counters, friends' houses, and even their cars.

A Travelodge spokesperson explained the initiative: "We want to preserve the magic of Christmas and ensure the festive build-up is as stress-free as possible. When our research found that many Brits already consider a hotel room the ideal wrapping spot, we realised we had to step in." They added, "Wrapping gifts should be a relaxing experience, free from the fear of others walking in."
