Benidorm expat warns tourists to avoid three 'high-risk' areas

A British expat who moved to Benidorm at 18 has warned tourists to steer clear of three areas he considers most risky in the popular Spanish resort. Harry Poulton, now 24, shared his advice on TikTok, cautioning visitors about pickpocketing and other issues.

First on his list is the 'Yellow Brick Road', a busy strip of bars and restaurants. Harry said: 'It has been known for a few things, mainly small thefts like pickpocketing. Generally, during the day, it's absolutely fine. I'd recommend avoiding it at night.'

Second is Pueblo Alley, near Levante Beach. Harry warned: 'This is one I definitely recommend avoiding, especially late at night, as you do get the pickpockets hanging around this area. You also get the odd lady of the night.'

Topping the list is 'Mugger's Alley', described as 'the most notorious'. Harry said: 'Known for pickpocketing, ladies of the night, it's just an area I would avoid. They're even doing these new taxi scams.'

A Facebook group, Benidorm Forever, echoed the warnings, noting that 'hugger muggers' target men on their own. The group advised keeping phones and cash out of sight, and visiting the SATE office to report any theft.

Despite the warnings, Harry remains a passionate advocate for Benidorm, calling it 'paradise'. He said living costs are between £500 and £1,000 a month, and dismissed claims of widespread scams as 'pure nonsense'.
