Travel Expert Reveals Three Cheaper European Summer Destinations

Travel expert Gavin Brewer, Head of Aviation at loveholidays, has identified three European destinations where holiday prices have dropped this summer, bucking the trend of rising costs. Bulgaria, Montenegro, and Turkey have all seen significant reductions on seven-night packages, offering travellers better value for money.

Bulgaria has experienced the largest price cut among the three, with an average saving of £60 per person. Known for its Black Sea beaches and budget-friendly appeal, the country offers local beer for around £2. Popular spots include the capital Sofia with its Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and Vitosha Boulevard, as well as the ancient city of Plovdiv, a former European Capital of Culture.

Montenegro, often described as a 'Balkan gem', has seen prices fall by approximately £53 per person. The country is likened to Croatia but without the crowds, featuring unspoilt national parks and coastal towns along the Adriatic. Highlights include the Bay of Kotor, often called 'Europe's southernmost fjord', and Durmitor National Park with its glacial lakes.

Turkey has also become more affordable, with savings of around £35 per person. The country offers diverse landscapes and rich culture, from Istanbul's historic landmarks like Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque to Cappadocia's fairy chimneys and hot air balloon rides.

Brewer noted that the United States has seen the largest price reduction overall, but emphasised that these European hotspots provide excellent value. He advised travellers to search for holidays based on their budget to find the best deals.
