The Geordie Buoy pub to open in North Shields in December

The Geordie Buoy, a new pub promising live music and elevated comfort food, will open on North Shields Fish Quay in early December. The venue is set to launch in the former Porky's building, bringing together live music, food and a Geordie welcome in time for Christmas.

Plans for the new venue

The venture is led by Colin Curran, Denise Davies and their business partner Paul, who bring experience running pubs across the North East. The team said they want to give fresh, up-and-coming local talent a platform to showcase their music and build an audience. They noted that North Shields is the birthplace of Sam Fender, adding: "Who knows who we might hear next?"

The menu is described as 'elevated Geordie comfort classics', including saveloy dip and corned beef hotpot. Every Saturday, the pub plans to host two bottomless brunch sessions at 2pm and 5pm, with a Greatest Showman themed brunch already scheduled for December 12.

Recruiting singing staff

The team is also looking to recruit budding singers and performers to join their waiting staff, with promises of opportunities to 'break into song mid-shift'. Colin summarised the venture as: "Belter bait. Belter beats. That's The Geordie Buoy."

The pub has been gathering attention on social media since the initial plans were made public, with momentum building over the last few months. Work continues behind the scenes at the former Porky's building ahead of the opening.
