ScotRail has launched a £25 flat fare offer for return travel to any destination in Scotland, valid for journeys between June 27 and July 19, 2026. The promotion allows passengers to explore the country at a significantly reduced rate, with savings of up to £52 on popular routes.
How the offer works
The £25 return ticket is available for standard class travel on all ScotRail and TransPennine Express services within Scotland. Booking opens on June 27 and closes on July 11, 2026. Travel must be completed by July 19, and the return journey can be taken up to one month after the outward date. Tickets are restricted to travel after 9:15 am on weekdays and all day on weekends, with a maximum of two tickets per transaction.
Example savings on key routes
According to ScotRail, the flat fare offers substantial discounts compared to standard open return tickets. For instance, a return trip between Aberdeen and Glasgow costs £25 instead of £77, saving £52. Other examples include Glasgow to Inverness (£25 vs £74.20, saving £49.20), Edinburgh to Aberdeen (£25 vs £68.70, saving £43.70), and Glasgow to Aviemore (£25 vs £67.30, saving £42.30). Shorter routes like Dundee to Edinburgh save £11.30, Edinburgh to Ayr saves £11.10, and Glasgow to North Berwick saves £8.00.
Booking and conditions
Tickets can be purchased online and issued as mTickets or collected from ticket vending machines. Customers booking by phone on 0344 811 0141 must quote “NEWSPAPER PROMO”; however, a fee applies for posted tickets. Seat reservations are not required but recommended for longer journeys. The offer can be combined with Kids for a Quid tickets, but railcards and other discounts are not valid. Upgrades to First Class are not permitted, and no refunds or changes are allowed. Journeys cannot be broken except for connections.
