Ryanair has hit out at passengers who remove their shoes during flights, branding the habit an unspoken rule that can leave the cabin stinking. The airline took to TikTok to share a video highlighting the issue, with the caption: 'POV: passengers who take their shoes off' and the accompanying message: 'Keep your shoes on!'
The clip showed how travellers with bare feet often prop them on the armrest in front, much to the disgust of the person seated ahead. The post has drawn widespread agreement in the comments, with one user writing: 'There should be a charge, no one takes their shoes off on a flight. No matter if its Ryanair, it will stink.'
Another joked: 'Add the taking off socks fee, thank me later.' A third shared a personal experience, posting: 'Exactly what happened to me last year,' while a fourth questioned: 'Where do they have the space to put their shoes? Why aren't you charging them extra for this?'
The criticism comes as part of Ryanair's ongoing cheeky social media strategy. Last week, the airline teased a new first-class offering, announcing a 'luxury experience' with larger seats that could convert into beds. However, the promotion was quickly undercut by a finger on screen and the voiceover: 'Yeah, no. Enjoy the view,' before revealing the airline's infamous windowless window seat.
