Emily Sleight, an affiliate content editor, spent a week at Bwthyn y Fferm in Talybont-on-Usk, Gwynedd, and described it as the best break she has had in ages. The detached stone cottage is located on the Cardigan Bay coast, close to Tal-y-bont Beach, and is pet-friendly, accommodating her dog Penny.
Cottage Features and Location
The two-bedroom property is situated on the Sea Nymph Caravan Park, offering amenities such as shops, a chip shop, and the Nineteen.57 restaurant serving classic pub grub. Despite being on a caravan park, the cottage is secluded and the park itself is quiet and relaxed. The cottage features a cosy lounge with traditional oak floorboards, comfortable beds, a ground floor toilet, and two bedrooms with sea views.
Highlights of the Stay
The highlight for Sleight was the presence of sheep literally on the doorstep, providing a serene backdrop while enjoying coffee and reading. The golden sunsets were magnificent due to favourable weather. Activities during the week included visits to Aberdyfi, Shell Island, Harlech Castle, and a ride on the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland steam train. Evening beach walks with fresh sea air contributed to the best sleep she had in months.
Sleight noted that the beach was not crowded, offering a peaceful experience. She described the cottage as no-frills but perfect for a relaxing break, though she wished it had a bath for winter visits. On the last night, they dined at Dylan's restaurant nearby, which she preferred over the on-site option, praising the food quality despite the higher cost.
